Childhood Memories....

Snow... something rare here in Coastal NC, but something a Jersey girl saw plenty of growing up! Miss it-- not really, but it is a beautiful sight. Brings back memories of sitting there waiting impatiently as the radio announcer ran down the list of school closings in alphabetical order-- we were an O--, my little brother trying to be the first one done to the stores to shovel those sidewalks, just to make money to get doughnuts! The snowman building, the snowball fights, sledding down the hill by the railroad tracks, snow angels, my winter boots-- we were so stylish back then! Mittens that never seemed to match and hats that always made us look like geeks! We played for hours and hours, all over the neighborhood. And stopped in all the houses to get warm, drink hot chocolate and, if we were lucky, hot, homemade cookies.
There is a tradition in our family; the first snow of the year, Mom ALWAYS made spaghetti and the sauce never came from a jar. It would simmer all day, waiting for us to come in from the cold and for Dad to walk through the door. I admit, I always kept up that tradition while away from home. And I took great pride today while texting Billy.... "gee, too bad you aren't here... Mom is making spaghetti!" So this one is for you little brother... and it was awesome!

F*R*I*E*N*D

Lets talk friends.... we all have them... some good... some bad.. some for a short time.. some for a long, long time and then there are the special ones... you know, the ones who would drop anything at anytime to be there for you... Tonight I got to be the special one for one of my special ones... I was the one who came to the rescue... I was the one who said I am on my way without even thinking about it... what a great feeling it was... to be able to turn around and pay it forward... I am so very thankful for all the friends in my life... the ones who have just stopped in for a visit and have continued on without me... for they have left a piece of them behind... for those who let me stop in for a visit and I hope and pray I left a piece of me behind for them.. for those who have been there through good and bad ... and for those who will always be there, day or night, to laugh, to cry and to just be. What a wonderful world!

That time of the year...

Why is it that each year, we make resolutions just to break them? Some might make it a while and some are gone in a matter of hours! I am sure we all have good intentions, but somehow we get sidetraked in our busy lives and things we thought were important turn out to be tossed aside. I admit, again I am making a resolution to eat healthier, excerise more often , be a nice person and try not to stress as much. Still... isn't that something I should be doing in the first place?! I am determined that this is the year I am going to reconnect with old friends and see what road they took... and stop worrying about how the road I took looks to them. Yes, there are a few minor changes I would have made along the way, but I have been blessed with a wonderful family and some amazing friends. Life is good! And, God is good...all the time.. God is good! Posted by Picasa

This one is for you qualcosa di bello!

A while ago I promised qualcosa di bello...from now on she will be known as Queen B... I would start blogging. Thing is, I have no clue what I am doing and what in the world I am going to blog about... I used to think I was computer literate until I started this... what in the world was I thinking??!!!! But, I figured, what the heck!
So I hope you enoy the ride, wherever it may lead... exits taken, some missed and those les travelled and those travelled by many. Detours will certainly abound, but sometimes those are the best lessons learned.
And, for the record, it was Exit 105 off the Parkway and Exit 7 off the Turnpike.
